Fry feeding guide
Betta fry are tiny — far smaller than guppy fry — and most first-week losses are fry starving next to food that is too big or does not move. The winning sequence is the smallest swimming food first, then a step up every few days as mouths grow.

| Stage | Feed this | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Days 1–4 (free-swimming) | Vinegar eels | Smallest of the cultures and they swim in the water column for hours, so weak hunters keep finding food between feeds |
| Days 3–10 | Banana worms, then microworms | Slightly bigger and very productive; microworms crawl and sink slowly, giving fry repeated chances near surfaces and the bottom |
| Week 2 onwards | Newborn daphnia / moina from your culture | The step up to baby brine-shrimp-sized food; sift or pick the smallest daphnia from the culture |
| Juveniles (4+ weeks) | Grindal worms (young, small ones) + daphnia | Meatier food for fast growth once mouths are big enough |
Vinegar eels (or infusoria) for the first days — they are the smallest cultured food and stay swimming for hours. Move to banana worms and microworms from about day 3–4 as fry strengthen.
Both, ideally. Vinegar eels for the first days and as round-the-clock background food; microworms as the productive staple meal from day 3–4. The Fry Starter Kit contains both, plus banana worms and daphnia (moina) for grow-out.
Small feeds 3–5 times daily for the first weeks. Vinegar eels help if you cannot feed that often, because they stay alive and available in the water between feeds.
