A small culture room in the Western Cape
Live Fish Food SA started the way most fish rooms do: breeding fish, struggling to find live food locally, and ending up culturing it ourselves.
We culture daphnia, microworms, banana worms, grindal worms and vinegar eels at home in the Western Cape — the same cultures we feed our own fry. When South African shops list these cultures as permanently “out of stock”, breeders share starters through clubs and Facebook groups. We started this shop so you can simply order them.
How we work
- WhatsApp orders only. No accounts and no checkout queues — message us, we confirm stock and the exact courier price, you pay by EFT, we pack.
- Dispatched Monday to Wednesday. Living cultures never sit in a courier depot over a weekend.
- Door-to-door with The Courier Guy. Anywhere in South Africa — get an estimate on the shipping page.
- Cultures, not portions. A starter culture keeps producing for months. Every product page and guide on this site shows you exactly how we keep ours.
